About the ILCA Mentorship Programme
The ILCA Mentorship Programme is a 12‑month initiative designed to support early‑career investigators in liver cancer by pairing them with internationally recognized mentors in the field. Together, mentees and mentors work on scientific and/or career‑development goals to help build the next generation of leaders in liver cancer research.

Who Can Apply?
The programme is designed for early career professionals who are committed to a future in liver cancer research and care.
You are eligible to apply if you:
- Are undertaking pre‑ or post‑doctoral studies OR are in a post‑MD residency or fellowship programme.
- OR are junior faculty within 3 years of your initial appointment.
- Are engaged in a liver cancer–related discipline (basic, translational, or clinical) within a public or private non‑profit institution.

How the Programme Works
We aim to make the mentorship experience structured, impactful, and flexible for both mentors and mentees.
Submit your application
Complete the online application form before 1 June 2026, including your biographical sketch and 1‑page statement outlining your interests, goals, and preferred mentors (you’ll be asked to indicate 1–2 mentors)
Matching with a mentor
The ILCA Mentorship Committee reviews applications and pairs mentees with mentors based on scientific interests, career stage, and stated preferences.
Kick‑off at the ILCA Annual Meeting
Mentor–mentee pairs are encouraged to have their first meeting in person during the ILCA Annual Conference, whenever possible.
Regular mentorship meetings
Over the 12‑month period, you will meet with your mentor virtually at least every 4–6 months to track progress, adjust goals, and discuss scientific and career development topics.
Closing report & evaluation
At the end of the 12-month period, you will submit a 1‑page closing report, co‑signed by you and your mentor, summarising activities and outcomes. Both mentors and mentees will also complete an evaluation to help ILCA further improve the programme.
