Dear Friends,

ILCA is a unique international organization for primary liver cancer, uniting a multidisciplinary membership of epidemiologists, hepatologists, radiologists, scientists, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and patient advocates. Its global character is reflected in leadership and membership drawn from Africa, the Americas, the Asia‑Pacific region, and Europe.

My aspiration is to build on ILCA’s legacy and expand its global influence, with key priorities including

Partnership

Forge collaborations with journals to disseminate and publish ILCA related consensus statements and research;
Use my position as the first Asian president to deepen ties with Asia‑Pacific experts, organise joint meetings, and grow membership from the region, which bears over 70% of the global HCC burden.

Membership experience

Enhance member engagement by expanding speaker opportunities and raising ILCA’s visibility so members feel proud to belong to the community;
Nurture the next generation by reinstating ILCA fellowship and preceptorship programmes.

Patient

Ensure patients’ voices are heard. We have launched initiatives including a documentary on patient stories, strengthened collaboration with patient advocates, and the development of AI tools for patients.

Finally, the Executive Committee and I genuinely welcome your ideas and input. Please email me or any ExCo member with suggestions: we will consider them seriously.
