The International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) is now accepting applications for two new Council Members to join its Governing Board starting January 2026.
These positions are vital to ILCA’s mission and strategic direction—supporting the Association’s growth, visibility, and impact in the global liver cancer community.
Term Duration
Elected Council Members will serve a four-year term, beginning in January 2026 and concluding in January 2030.

This role is for you, if you’re committed to helping advance ILCA’s mission by supporting Association activities, contributing to Committees, acting as an ILCA ambassador, and bringing engagement and vision.

As a Governing Board member you are expected to participate in annual ILCA Conferences every year.

To be eligible you need be an active member of the ILCA Association and contribute actively toward Association who contributes actively towards the aims and objectives of the association

Who are we looking for?
We are specifically seeking candidates representing radiology (diagnostic or interventional), pathology and surgery among the other specialties, with a preference for female candidates wherever possible.

The ILCA Governing Board representation
The ILCA Governing Board is composed of members from North America, Europe, and Asia each and, so far as it is practically possible, a minimum of one member from South America, Africa, and Oceania each.
There is an appointment quota on the Governing Board to achieving a gender balance, so that, always, there is a minimum of 40% of either gender (male or female) serving on the Governing Board. The priority for ILCA for this call is to ensure equal representation across different disciplines.

- Candidates must submit their application to the Chair of the Nominations Committee together with a letter explaining why they think they should be part of the ILCA Governing Board as Council member, and a statement declaring potential conflicts of interest.
- Candidates with a Conflict of interest should take steps to resolve the conflict.
- A candidature is composed of:
a. the specific role to which the candidate wishes to be elected: Council member.
b. CV of the applicant.
c. A letter of motivation explaining why the candidate is suitable and what he/she wishes to accomplish during the term of office if elected.
d. a signed commitment to abide by the official policies of the Association. - Candidates may not contact any member of Governing Board about their application or do any direct lobbying.
- The Chair of the Nominations Committee is responsible for the verifying the completeness of each candidature and for validating the suitability of the candidate.
- The Chair of the Nominations Committee shall put forward every eligible candidature.
- At the ILCA AC2025 meeting (19-21 November 2025), Governing Board receives a presentation on each candidate.
