This retrospective study reports the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma in alcoholic related cirrhosis (16175 patients) and non -fatty liver disease (7068 patients). After a median follow up of 3.7 years, the annual incidence of HCC in alcoholic cirrhosis was 1.44% and in NAFLD was 1.56% suggesting the usefulness of HCC screening in these populations. A score predictive of HCC development was proposed and is available here.
